PAKISTAN FLOODING & DISASTER RELIEF

The people of Pakistan have suffered numerous natural and human-caused disasters over the past several years. Presbyterians have been in ministry there since before the nation of Pakistan was formed. The recent floods have brought record-breaking destruction to the country, with more than 1,400 people dead and more than 1.5 million displaced. You can make a difference in bringing God’s healing to a nation torn by devastation.

The Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) is responding through Presbyterian Disaster Assistance (PDA) and working with our ecumenical partners to help meet emergency needs – providing food packages, shelter material, and non-food essentials. Emergency health services are also being provided.  Individuals may give by sending your check to: Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), P O Box 643700, Pittsburgh, PA 15264-3700.  Please include the special designated giving account DR000038 – Pakistan.  You can also make a donation by calling 1-800-728-7228.

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE SERVICES OF LANCASTER COUNTY MISSION

A NEW MISSION:  Presbyterian Women is starting a new collection for the women's shelter with a different focus. The shelter is in great need of bras, panties, and pajamas as some women arrive at the shelter with only the clothes on their backs. There always seems to be a shortage of the large plus sizes. Diapers are especially in demand. We are asking your help in giving a donation from the list below. Please keep the women and children at the shelter in mind when you go shopping. Only new items, please.

o      Bras, any size. Large women’s sizes are particularly needed.

o      Women’s panties, any size is ok, and large women’s sizes are especially desired.

o      Ladies pajamas size 1X, 2X, 3X.

o      Women’s and children’s socks all sizes.

o      Diapers in all sizes.

A large collection box will be in the first floor classroom at the end of the hall on the left. Some people call this the "counting room".  If you have any questions, contact either of the coordinators: Joanne Myers (653-6745) or Cherry Landis (367-8977).

Thank you for your generosity,

Cherry and Joanne

CHRISTMAS GIVING TREE/WREATH

The Christmas Giving Tree/Wreath had gift requests for The Mount Joy Helping Service.  Gifts were wrapped in white tissue paper, with the gift request taped to the package and placed under the tree in the sanctuary by Sunday, December 12.  Amy McGough coordinated this successful effort.
