WITNESSED ( Seen and Heard )
Easter morning brought a large number of persons who braved the cold
weather and gathered in our hall with God’s beautiful outdoors in full view.
During the service, amid the hymns of praise, they witnessed the sun rising,
which also could symbolically be the “son“ rising. A breakfast of a variety of
delicious doughnuts and hot beverages followed.
For the nine o’clock service, the
sanctuary was well-filled, a few women wearing Easter bonnets, once a lovely
tradition. As usual, the Flower Committee had placed beautiful arrangements of
colorful spring flowers everywhere, and had them available for sale afterwards.
Following the worship service there was a Resurrection Egg Hunt in the grove for
the children. It was a festive occasion and a memorable bright and beautiful
Easter Sunday.
Any who ventured down to the
spring were truly rewarded by the beauty of flowering bulbs, the large rocks
covered with moss, and the tiny yellow butter-cup type ground cover which has
spread all over our grove. After blooming for several weeks, it completely
disappears until it emerges again the following spring. Add to this, hearing
the joyous singing of all types of songbirds and seeing the swift flow of the
clear spring water-- truly a paradise experience right in our midst.
Several weeks earlier, our members
were saddened to learn of the death of 10- year-old Montie Gregory, son of
Marshall and Denise and brother of Maegan and Morgan. Montie’s short life was
celebrated by a memorial service and a gathering of a large number of family and
friends at Donegal in support and tribute to a very special child who had
touched the lives of many persons including his schoolmates. Our sincere
sympathy to the whole family.
We are happy to hear that Nelson
Bard is in therapy and recovering well from a recent broken hip and
replacement. Wife Judy Kay is providing full-time attentive aid and care.
What good things
have you seen or heard recently?
